ERP Go-Live Checklist for Growing Businesses
Your ERP is configured. Users are trained. Data is migrated.
So, are you ready to go live?
Not necessarily.
For a growing business, ERP go-live is not simply about whether employees can create transactions. Management also needs confidence that the information coming from the new system is accurate, visible, and useful for decision-making.
Before switching to your new ERP, check these seven areas.
1. Validate Your Business Data
Your ERP reports and dashboards are only as reliable as the data behind them.
Before go-live, validate:
- Customers and suppliers
- Item and service masters
- Opening balances
- Inventory quantities and values
- Outstanding receivables and payables
- Chart of accounts
If the starting data is wrong, your first management reports will be wrong too.
2. Test Complete Business Processes
Don't test ERP functions individually.
Test complete business cycles.
For example:
Lead → Quotation → Sales Order → Delivery → Invoice → Payment and
Purchase Request → Purchase Order → Receipt → Supplier Invoice → Payment
This helps ensure information flows correctly across departments and eventually reaches financial and management reports.
3. Confirm Users, Roles and Approvals
Make sure every employee has the correct access before Day 1.
Check user roles, approval limits, department access, workflow responsibilities, and management permissions.
A missing permission can stop a transaction.
Too much permission can create unnecessary business risk.
4. Validate Integrations
If your ERP connects with other systems, test those connections before launch.
This could include eCommerce platforms, payment systems, CRM, banks, logistics applications, attendance systems, or business intelligence tools such as Power BI.
Don't assume an integration is ready simply because it connected successfully once.
Test actual business scenarios and confirm that the correct data is flowing in both directions where required.
5. Define Your Executive KPIs
This is one area growing businesses often overlook.
Before go-live, management should decide:
What do we actually want to measure from the ERP?
Depending on the business, this could include:
- Revenue vs target
- Gross profit
- Accounts receivable
- Cash position
- Inventory value
- Inventory turnover
- Sales pipeline
- Purchase commitments
- Order fulfilment
- Operational performance
Don't wait several months after implementation to start thinking about management reporting.
Define your KPIs before go-live so your ERP starts producing decision-ready information from Day 1.
6. Validate Reports and Dashboards
Transactions working correctly does not automatically mean reporting is ready.
Finance and management teams should validate important reports and dashboards before go-live.
Ask simple questions:
Can the CEO see the numbers that matter?
Can finance trust the figures?
Can department heads identify problems quickly?
ERP dashboards—or BI platforms such as Power BI connected to ERP data—can make this information easier to monitor.
The objective is not to create dozens of dashboards.
It is to make the right KPIs visible to the right decision-makers.
7. Prepare Go-Live & Hypercare Support
Finally, define what happens when something goes wrong.
Who handles user questions?
Who handles data issues?
Who handles critical ERP problems?
How will issues be prioritized?
During the first few weeks, the ERP team should closely monitor transactions, integrations, reports, dashboards, and user activity.
This hypercare period helps the business stabilize before moving into continuous improvement.
A Successful Go-Live Should Give You Visibility
A successful ERP go-live is not simply:
“The system is running.”
For a growing business, it should also mean:
“We can see what is happening across the business.”
When processes, data, users, integrations, KPIs, and dashboards are properly prepared, ERP becomes more than a transaction system.
It becomes a management platform for better decisions.
At LABOFWEB, we help businesses approach ERP implementation from both operational and management perspectives—from process mapping and configuration to reporting, dashboards, integrations, go-live, and post-launch improvement.
